Day 6: Arequipa to Colca Canyon
Today we woke up at 3 AM! We are going on a hike into Colca Canyon today and then sleeping in a little hut overnight. Then tomorrow we will hike back out! Today we will start hiking, after a six hour car ride!! Here are some pics from Condor Crossing, our first stop in the Colca Canyon.

Day 5: Arequipa (#2)
We started the day visiting a museum to see and learn about the Ice Maiden (a female child sacrificed by Incas 600 years ago), then we wandered around this beautiful colonial city and found a good spot to watch the England-Croatia game over lunch. After a brief siesta in the afternoon, we visited a local market. Kev has some fantastic images of the market that I hope he will post later. We bought some goodies to eat for dinner on our hotel’s roof top terrace. Tomorrow, we are being picked up bright and early (3am!) for a trip to Colca Canyon where we will hike and do a homestay. P.S. We probably won’t blog tomorrow, so don’t worry if you don’t hear from us.

Day 5: Arequipa
Today we went to see the Ice Maiden (we were not allowed to take pics)! We saw the Ice Maiden named Juanita and learned all about her sacrafice to the gods! Now we are in a place paying for our trek in Colca Canion!

Day 4: Lima and Arequipa
We started off slow today, like most of our days in Lima. After some packing and eating some breakfast we took a short walk to a park near Dylan and Marlene's with a path up to some mountains/dunes that separate the Miraflores and La Molina neighborhoods in Lima.

We left Isle del Sol (Dylan and Marlene's community) for the airport after lunch.
After arriving in Arequipa and a 30 minute drive from the airport, we checked into our quardruple room and roamed around the town for a bit and wandered around a grocery store.

And when we got back I got my rig all set up for the night.

Ian and I made the short scramble to the ridge and took some pictures while Megan and Eleanor stayed back at the park.

Day 3: Lima
Today we went to a Lima beach and hung out in Barranco. In the evening, the grown ups visited two of Lima’s most famous restaurants: Central for drinks and apps, and Astrid & Gaston for dinner. Yummy flavors and textures. Beautiful presentation. We said goodbye to Dylan, Marlene, and kids tonight because they are back to school and work early tomorrow. And our family heads to Arequipa.

Day 2: Lima
We are on our way to “Parque de Agua”! It is getting dark and the lights are on and it should be very fun! We are in the taxi now! We also went to the San Francisco cathedral earlier today and there was a underground part that was filled with bones! There were six levels underground but only one was safe.
